The game's objective is to advance through eight progressively difficult levels, aiming to achieve the highest score by forming words within the time limit for each level. Gameplay
- Grid of Letters: Much to Word Ferret or the game Boggle, WordZap gives players a grid of letters to work with. By linking adjacent letters in the grid, words are created.
- Making Words: Players can make words by vertically or horizontally linking neighboring letters. The letters that make up a word vanish as it is formed, and the letters above them descend to fill the space.\
- Lines to Remove: In order to pass a level, players must remove a predetermined amount of lines from the grid. At level 4, for instance, the player must remove four rows from the top within the allotted time.
- Time restriction: There is a designated time restriction for each stage. To advance to the next level, players must attempt to clear the necessary number of lines in the allotted time.
- Each word a player uses results in a point being awarded to them. The fact that longer words often outperform shorter ones encourages players to use longer, more intricate words.
- Continuation and Power-ups: If players complete a level's objective within the allotted time, they have the option to play that level one more time to increase their score. Additionally, during gaming, players can acquire "power-ups" that provide them advantageous benefits or boosts to assist them advance through the game.
