About Word Drop

Welcome to the fast-paced and exhilarating world of Word Drop! Are you ready to put your word-making skills to the test and reach for the highest score? Word Drop is an exciting word game that will challenge your quick thinking and strategic decision-making abilities. As falling letter tiles descend into columns, you must create words to clear the letters and keep the game going. With six levels of increasing difficulty, Word Drop promises endless hours of thrilling word-building fun.

Gameplay

  •   In accordance with the level's guidelines (see below), click the letter tiles to create words. Asterisk-marked tiles (*) are "wild," meaning they can be used for any letter.
  •   You can accept a word by clicking the "Submit" button, pressing the "Enter" key, or clicking the word's final letter a second time. Proper nouns are excluded, and only terms from this Word Drop lexicon are accepted.
  •   Press the "Clear" button to remove a word or word segment. The letter selection can be reset to any tile in the word before the final one by clicking on it.
  •   To stop the game, click the "Pause" button. To proceed, click it once more or the "Resume" button.

Level Rules

Level 1: Any letter may be chosen, and words may have between 3 - 8 letters.
Level 2: Any letter may be chosen, and words may have between 4 - 8 letters.

Level 3: Only letters from the same column or row may be chosen, and words may include between 3 - 8 letters.

Level 4: Words may be 3 - 8 letters long and only nearby letters (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) may be chosen. The same as with Word Ferret

Level 5: Only letters from the same column or row may be chosen, and words may include between 4 - 8 letters.

Level 6: Words can be 4 - 8 letters long and only nearby letters (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) may be chosen.

Scoring

 - Three criteria are used to determine a word's score: the length of the word, the current level, and the frequency of the letter in the dictionary (similar to Scrabble).

 - Useful letters are F, J, Q, V, W, X, and Z. A considerably greater score will be awarded for longer words. Additionally, words that are five words or longer will cause a proportionately slower letter drop. Each level adds a larger and larger proportion to the word score.
