About Squares
Squares is a word puzzle game where players are tasked with finding words hidden within a grid of letters. The game provides players with a letter grid containing various words, and the objective is to identify and connect these words by tracing a path through adjacent letters, either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
How to Play Squares:
- Connecting Letters: Players must connect adjacent letters in any direction (up, down, left, right, or diagonally) to form words. Each letter can only be used once within a word.
- Scoring: Players earn 1 point for each letter in a correctly guessed word. Longer words yield higher scores. Words must contain at least 4 letters to be valid.
- Bonus Words: Obscure, archaic, and slang words are considered bonus words. Although they do not earn points, they are counted separately. Players can continue searching for bonus words even after finding all the main words.
- Word of the Day: Each puzzle includes one "Word of the Day," which is an interesting and lengthy word from among the bonus words. Players who correctly guess this word receive two additional hints.
- Field Rotation: Players can rotate the playing field left and right using buttons located in the bottom right corner. Different angles may reveal new word combinations.
- Using Letters: After identifying 40% of the words in the game, players receive additional hints in the form of numbers on each letter. These numbers indicate how many words are left that begin with that letter.
- Hints: Players are provided with 3 to 5 hints, depending on the puzzle's difficulty. Hints reveal the first letter of a random word and the direction in which to start tracing the word. Players can also earn an additional hint by sharing the game link with friends.
