Holywoodle is an entertaining and challenging word-guessing game that links two actors through the movies they have starred in together. Inspired by the popular concept of "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," the game prompts players to connect two actors by finding the movies in which they have both acted or identifying co-stars they have shared. With a Hollywood twist, Holywoodle offers players the opportunity to experience the excitement of connecting Hollywood stars in the least number of moves possible.
How to play
- The major goal of Holywoodle is to establish a connection between two performers based on the films they have both appeared in or the co-stars they have shared.
- Players are given two new actors each day, and they must discover a connection between them, such as a similar movie or co-star.
- With the fewest number of movements possible, the link is to be made. Each correct response only costs one move, whereas each erroneous response costs three moves.
- A hint system is available in the game to help players who are stuck. Nevertheless, using a tip will boost the overall number of guesses.
Using co-stars and movies to connect performers, players must use strategic thinking to make accurate guesses.- There is no cap on the number of guesses in Holywoodle, in contrast to other word-guessing games. Players can keep speculating until they identify the correct link between the two performers.
Example Puzzle
Let's use the puzzle from today as an example. J. K. Simmons and Angourie Rice are the two actors who are mentioned. The players begin by bringing up a film in which J. K. Simmons starred. They mention another actor who appeared in that film. Players keep changing between films and performers until they find a film with Angourie Rice as the lead.
Scores and Hints
- In the long term, hints might save moves in addition to adding one.
- Three moves are subtracted from the total for a bad guess.
- If players correctly identify a film that the goal actor appeared in but not the present actor, they receive partial credit for two moves.
