Hertl is a game inspired by the popular word game Wordle but with a hockey twist. In Hertl, players must guess the identity of a current NHL player from a database of players in just 8 tries. The game provides hints to help players narrow down their guesses and find the mystery player.
- Guess the NHL Player: In eight tries, players must correctly identify the name of the mystery NHL player from the database that is presented.
- The game offers color-coded tips with each guess to show how close the guess is to the right response.
Green: Denotes a successful match. The mystery player's name is precisely matched by the guessed name.
Yellow: A close contest is indicated. The guessed name is not an exact match, but it is similar or has some letters with the name of the mystery player.
Grey: Shows there is no match. The name of the mystery player does not even somewhat correspond to the guess.
- Team Hint: The yellow team cell shows that the mystery player once played for the team of the person that was correctly identified. Players can narrow down their options by taking into account the mystery player's previous teams.
- Jersey Number and Age Hint: For the age and jersey number, an arrow depicts the discrepancy between the player's guess and the mystery player's real age and jersey number.
